Opportunities Fund Self-Employment Benefits (SEB) Program at Job Skills

Are you disabled? YES YOU CAN be your own boss!

People with Disabilities are successfully operating businesses with help from Job Skills and the Opportunities Fund.

Discover the freedom, flexibility and independence that comes from working for yourself, as well as the ability to:

  • reduce the need for transportation
  • accommodate changing functional levels
  • create an accessible work environment

For up to 78 weeks, eligible participants can access the Self-Employment Benefits Program, which includes:

  • mentoring and coaching with business experts
  • business-related workshops
  • financial support

Eligibility/Suitability
To be eligible to apply for the Opportunities Fund SEB Program individuals must:

  • be unemployed, with a self-identified disability and not eligible for Employment Benefits under the Human Resources Investment Fund (HRIF) (not EI/Reachback)
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • have completed a Return to Work Action Plan at an Assessment Centre.

Other criteria may apply.

The Opportunities Fund SEB Program runs on a continuous intake process. Potential participants attend an information session to determine eligibility. For more information about the Opportunties Fund SEB Program call, visit or email Job Skills.
